The Newforest Institute is an educational, non-profit organization dedicated to creating ways to reconnect community livelihoods with local environments. As one of New England's leading permaculture centers, we aim to foster sustainable food systems and build meaningful relationships using our demonstration gardens and community outreach programs to encourage environmentally and socially just food production, housing, entrepreneurship, education, and community development.
Since our launch in early 2007, Newforest has organized and hosted numerous events at the community and regional levels. It has involved neighbors, schools, visiting scholars, interns, community and academic leaders, as well as tradesmen, builders and business owners in a wide range of educational programs as well as extensive and innovative garden, forest and building projects, all of which reflect our commitment to the values of human development and tangible works.
